the ACT, test preparation The PSAT/NMSQT measures skills that are
important for
success in college—verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem
solving,
and writing. Taking the PSAT/NMSQT
enables students to get feedback about critical academic skills, seek
information from colleges, enter scholarship competitions, and practice
for SAT
tests; juniors and sophomores are encouraged to take the test. Test fee is $13.00.
The new name for the TASP test is the Texas Higher Education Assessment (THEA) test. The content of the THEA test is the same as the former TASP test. The THEA test provides information about the reading, mathematics, and writing skills of students entering public colleges and universities. Before entering a two-year of four-year college and some technical schools, a student must have passing THEA scores (for non-math courses English 220 and Reading 230/ for math courses, English 220, Reading 230, and Math 230)> Juniors must either pass the THEA or meet exemption qualifications (see below) before registering for Dual Credit courses at NCTC. Test fee is $29.00.

Exemptions Students may receive an exemption from the THEA by achieving qualifying scores on the ACT, the SAT, or the 11th grade Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills (TAKS). Check with your specific college for entrance exam requirements.
SAT Combined 1070; at least 500 on Verbal and Math TAKS 2200 in math and/or 2200 in English/Language Arts (ELA) with a writing score of at least 3
The ACT is a measure of academic achievement and is more closely tied to high school curriculum. The ACT is composed of four sections: English, Math Reading, Science Reasoning, and an optional Writing section. The maximum score on each section is 36. A composite score is generated which addresses the total performance. Test fee is $30.00 without Writing, and $44.50* with the Writing. *$14.50 Writing Test fee is
refundable, on request, if
you are absent on test day or you change your test option before
testing

SAT The SAT I: Reasoning Test is designed to measure verbal and math reasoning abilities. The SAT test is used as a college entrance exam for most four-year universities.
